I'm Jake. I build websites and the systems behind them, and I've been doing it since college — more than fifteen years now, across software products, client websites, and operations roles. These days I run my own multi-channel resale operation — which means I'm not just a developer, I'm also the small business owner who has to live with the tools. That changes how I build.
Most of the automation I sell started as something I built for myself: listing pipelines that push inventory to four marketplaces at once, sale detection that pulls a listing everywhere else within seconds, alerting that pings my phone when something breaks at 2 a.m., document generators that turn a spreadsheet into a stack of finished PDFs. I've since built the same kinds of tools for clients.
What I'm good at
- Websites that are done right. Clean design, fast load, mobile first, hosted somewhere sensible, with the domain and email sorted.
- Back-office tools. Admin panels, dashboards, and forms built in Python and React on Postgres — plain, durable stack that any future developer can pick up.
- Automation with a paper trail. Scheduled jobs, notifications, PDF and label generation, integrations with the platforms you already use, and browser automation for the ones that don't have an API.
- Operations, not just launches. Monitoring, backups, self-hosted or cloud infrastructure, and the honest answer to "should this be a person or a script?"
- Hardware when it matters. Electronics, embedded systems, and fabrication — useful when your workflow touches a printer, scanner, scale, or a physical device on the floor.
How I work
Small scopes, fixed prices where I can, and working software you can click on every week. I'd rather tell you a project isn't worth doing than sell you a big one. When we're done you own everything — code, accounts, and documentation — and you can keep me on for upkeep or walk away clean.
Background
I graduated in 2011 and have been building web apps, websites, and automation ever since. I designed and built a real-time inventory management SaaS platform for commercial wine inventories, where the stock is large, complex, and has to be right. Alongside that I've built websites for clients on and off, and worked in a range of operations management and operations consulting roles, helping teams automate their workflows.
